This recipe is one our sister has been making for years. It is seriously amazing. I don't know what it is about Texas Sheet Cake.....but we are pretty obsessed. It goes down way too easy, so before you know it, you've eaten half the pan!! So be warned.
Texas Sheet Cake
2 C. Sugar
2 C. Flour
1 C. Water
1 C. Real Butter
1/4 C. Cocoa Powder
2 Eggs
1/2 C. Buttermilk
1 Tsp. Baking Soda
pinch of salt
1 1/2 Tsp. Vanilla
2 C. Sugar
2 C. Flour

1 1/2 Tsp. Vanilla
Frosting
1/2 C. butter
3 T. cocoa
6 T. buttermilk
3 1/2 C Powdered sugar
1 1/2 Tsp. Vanilla
Instructions: Combine sugar and flour in large bowl. In a saucepan, melt butter, water, and cocoa. Bring to a boil, cool slightly, and add to flour and sugar in bowl. Add buttermilk, eggs, baking soda, and vanilla. Mix well until smooth. Pour into greased jelly roll pan. Bake in oven at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for 20 minutes. While cake is cooking, prepare frosting. In a saucepan, add butter, cocoa, and buttermilk. Heat to boiling, then remove from heat. Add powdered sugar and mix until smooth, add vanilla. Pour warm frosting over warm cake.
