I got these nightstands for cheap a few years ago. I was just barely getting into DIY projects at this point...and I spray painted them black! They've always just looked "okay". I was done with "okay" and wanted to LOVE them. I wanted the Pantone color of the year, and Amy Howard has a one step paint that is very close! It is called Easy Street.
This was a super simple project and I couldn't be happier with the results.
First off I sanded down the dressers a bit. This was kinda messy since I used spray paint on them. **Sigh...
With One Step Paint, sanding and prepping are steps you don't necessarily have to take. I painted these poorly before and I wanted as fresh of canvas as possible. That is why I sanded them down.
Painting doesn't get easier than this. Stir your One Step Paint, then apply with a high quality paint brush like this one from Amy Howard at Home.
Apply in a even motion, not going over the areas you've painted. Let them dry thoroughly. I did two coats just to be safe.
One my nightstands were completely dry, I waxed them with Clear Wax. Waxing is simple. Dip your brush in the wax, rub it on a plate to "offload" and then use x motions and apply it over your entire piece. Allow it to dry for at least 1 hour, then buff it off with a clean rag.
I added circular vinyl cutouts behind my knobs, and then added my new knobs from Hobby Lobby.
You can read more about the vinyl knob accents here.
I am very happy with the results of my labors. For any questions, leave a comment below, or visit www.amyhowardathome.com
