Have you ever tried Henna before? It was new to me! I've always wanted to try it, just never had the opportunity. When given the chance to try it from home, I couldn't resist! I knew my kids would love it, and they did!
What is Henna? Henna is a plant based dye that gives the appearance of a tattoo (without the commitment). The particular brand I used was Earth Henna.
Their product is 100% natural. The story of how they found their product and get it today is fascinating. Read about it here.
Earth Henna kits come with everything you need to make temporary Henna tattoos. The Henna comes in a powder form. You add the liquid packet to it, and mix it up in the bag (not messy at all). You let it sit for an hour in the fridge, and then funnel it into the bottle.
I used the Kids' Henna Body Painting Kit.
The color is dark brown with a slight orangey tint to it. Great for kids!
My husband is quite artistic and he did our Henna tattoos freehand. If this isn't your thing, each kit comes with stencils. Super easy to use.
Simply apply the eucalyptus oil (provided with the kit) on the area to be tattooed. Lie the stencil paper ink side on skin, and press. When peeled away, a perfect outline of your design is left! Trace the stencil transfer with your Earth Henna and allow it to dry!
Something new I learned using Henna is that it stays on the skin for hours before you can peel it off. I'll be honest, I thought this was going feel weird and drive me crazy. I wasn't sure if my kids would actually keep theirs on. I was pleasantly surprised that it wasn't bothersome at al!!!
The paste dries flush with the skin and this happens within 20-30 minutes. You leave it on for another 6 hours, and then peel it off. The tattoo can be seen, but continues to darken over the next 24 hours.
We did some fun mickey ears for a day trip we had planned to Disneyland. My kids LOVED their Henna.
How long does it last? For a month in your fridge.
Does it go a long way? YESSSSSS! We had plenty left over. So much in fact, that I took it home to Idaho with me last week and 7 of my nieces and nephews got in line and had me put Henna on their hands and feet.
This kit is fabulous and can be snagged right now for under $17!!!! I'll absolutely be using Earth Henna again. I'd love to see what you create with your Henna kit. Send photos or tag us on social media.
